Edward had come out to hunt, but somewhere along the way it changed. He just couldn’t hunt right now, he had too much to think about. Who was he thinking about? He wasn’t even sure about that. Keira or Vivian? They were both very beautiful girls, and they both reminded him of Bella in a heart wrenching sort of way.
Vivian has the same fierce spirit as Bella, which scares Edward. Would she leave him too? Well sure, technically he left her, but she had moved on, where Edward had not. And she’s a werewolf. A smelly, mean, werewolf. But she’s not. She’s a beautiful creature, and Edward can’t help but feel something for her. Was it really just his memory of Bella, or did he also like Vivian for her?
But Keira was also perfect. She had the same awkward shyness that always entertained Edward when he was with Bella. She had the same face, and most of all, she had the same blank mind. Edward couldn’t read a single thought that crossed her mind. It was just as aggravating as it was with Bella. But it also had the same elusiveness too. Why couldn’t he hear her? What was so different about her that she could keep him out?
He knew he should stay away from them. Jacob and Bella wouldn’t like him hanging around their children, but how can you not? He knew this was the start of something wonderful but what? And with who?
It was all too much to think about, Edward was simply running through the forest, trying to figure it all out. Stopping, Edward sighed and sat down on a tree that had fallen over. It wasn’t that he was tired, for vampires didn’t get tired, it was just simply habit.

Keira was alone in the forest, yet again, against her familys wishes. They thought there was some threat out there, somthing that she was not allowed to know. well if they were not going to tell her, she would still go out into the forest. She never cared much for her fathers rules. She never listened to them if she didnt want to, or she thought they sounded stupid, like the 'No more Forest alone' Rule that they had just made. Shre thought it was completely stupid, and she was not going to follow it.
She was wearing a pair of green shorts, and a black tank top. Her jewelry was like ever day, mainly just the blue ring on her pointer finger. She didnt really wear much adorning, or any make up at all really. She kenw her sister liked her to wear make-up when seh went out with her, but Keira did not like it. It felt like it was weighing down her face, like her skin was being trapped or somthin g, so she hardly ever wore any.
She stepped through some trees, pushing them out of her way, to find Edward cullen sitting on a log. she was speachless, she was not expecting one of the new rich kids to be this deep in the forest. She kind of stood there for a moment, deciding on weather to talk or not. She opned her mouth o talk. And "Uuuuh," was all that came out.
It wasnt like she was completely struck by him, well, not completely., but thats beside the point. She had never talked to anyone that wasnt in the pack before really, except the usual things, "Can I borrow a pencil?" "Do you know what time it is?" And stuff like that she she didnt know what to say really.

Edward could smell her before he could hear, or see her, that luscious, almost floral scent that had drawn him to Bella so many years ago. It wasn’t quite the same as Bella’s aroma, but just as intoxicating. He felt his head fog up with the smell. It took all of his might to appear normal when she broke through the trees to find him sitting so calmly.
She looked at him, with an uncertain look that could remind him of no one but Bella. Just the sight of Keira Black was enough to make his heart throb out of his chest. Why did it have to hurt so much? It was nearly unbearable. He knew that if he were smart, he would just leave now. Not just this awaiting conversation, but the whole town. The whole state. The whole country for that matter. Get away from the pain that was inevitable.
But he couldn’t. He knew that already. Looking into her brown eyes, the same exact color as her mothers, he knew he would never be able to leave Forks again. Not while these girls were here.
She stood just as ungracefully as Bella. Even standing still Bella always looked like she could fall at any second. Always so breakable, this was ironic really, considering she ended up breaking him beyond repair. But he would let this go. He knew that with Anna and Keira present, he would be able to move on. Living his past through them. It wasn’t healthy really, but nothing about Edward ever was.
While Edward was deep in his own thoughts, which in all actuality took mere seconds, it’s a vampire thing, Keira was stuttering to get something coherent out. “Uuuuh.” Was all that could escape her lips.
Edward smiled his beautiful crooked smile which soon disappeared when he tried to read her mind. That was one thing he didn’t understand. It was like Keira was on that same am channel as Bella. Unreadable. He frowned for a second, his eyes scorching, but he wiped it away quickly and rose from his seat at a human speed.
“Hello, I don’t think we were ever formally introduced.” Edward said in his old English ways. Always the gentleman. “I’m Edward Cullen.” He was fairly sure she already knew this, but who knows what Bella could have said. Maybe Bella really had forgotten him completely.

She saw his face play many emotions across it. Longing, sadness, Then a smile, but it dissapeared into frustration. His eyes went weird, but then his face cleared. Keira shrugged it away.
“Hello, I don’t think we were ever formally introduced.” He got up. “I’m Edward Cullen.”
She paniced for a split second. Why was he here in her Forest? At least she wasn't completely awkward in this situation, she was semi covered by branched.
"Um, Im Keira," She blurted out. She thought that the introduction was far less formal than his, and bit her lip.
"Keira Elizabeth Black," She said, a smile lightly touching her lips. She was starting to feel semi-comfortable in the situation that she was in, until She stumbled forward, over a un-covered root.

"Um, I’m Keira," She blurted out quickly. He smiled at her, trying to make her feel more comfortable. Making people wasn’t usually his strong point though. Humans grew naturally uptight around people like him, “Keira Elizabeth Black.” She said, trying to match his formalities.
“Well its—“ Edward began, but was caught midsentence when she started towards him and stumbled, about to fall. Without realizing what he was doing, Edward was there in a flash, grabbing her before she fell. As soon as he touched her, he felt a weird sensation go up his arm, he pulled away from her as soon as he was sure she wouldn’t fall over, “Well that was interesting.” He muttered, mostly to himself.
Standing in such close proximity to her beautiful scent was starting to become unbearable for Edward, he hadn’t ended up hunting after all. He backed away a few feet. It didn’t help much, but at least she wouldn’t feel uncomfortable. “Anyway, it’s nice to meet you Miss Black.” He couldn’t help it, his voice turned slightly darker at the name Black. Jacob. Edward could almost feel his blood boil at the thought of the wolf. And Edward wasn’t really sure if he had blood.

Keira fell, and never hit the floor.
She opened her squeezed shut eyes to reveal Mr. Edward Cullen helping her up. He was in her personal space, and she didnt seem to mind, for the first time in her life, she really didnt seem to mind. He had her by the elbow, and it happened so fast that it confused her. He let go of her, his touch still lingering on her skin, like an electric current running up her arm.
“Well that was interesting.”
She heard him mutter.
"Me Falling? Hardly, that happens all the time," She said laughing it off, looking away, then back.
“Anyway, it’s nice to meet you Miss Black.”
"The Feeling is mutual, Mr. Cullen," She said, in the same tone that he had used, formal, and very stiff. She had to fight to keep a straight face. All she wanted to do right now was smile, and climb up as high as she could in one of the trees. But she was here, talking to the boy who everyone is buzzing about at school, and she had to somehow explain away the cold electirc feeling that slightly lingered in her arm.

To Edward’s surprise, Keira heard his mutter. "Me Falling? Hardly, that happens all the time," She said laughing it off. She looked away shyly, and then her eyes came right back. Edward cracked a smile. “Just like your mother.” He said with a grin. He wasn’t really sure if it was a good idea to bring up her mother, but it was too late now. How could he not think of Bella while he was with her? Keira practically WAS Bella.
"The Feeling is mutual, Mr. Cullen," She said stiffly. The formality didn’t work as well in her voice. She was born in a different time. She was just a child really. But she showed the same maturity Bella had so many years ago. It was hard for Edward to think of her that way.
“For now,” was all he said, an air of mystery in his voice. He was afraid she would go home and her dumb dog of a father will get her to hate him. Edward wasn’t sure if he could handle that. He didn’t need anymore disappointment.
“What are you doing out here all by yourself?” Edward asked, changing the subject. Concern washed over his face, “You shouldn’t be out here alone. Theres…” He wasn’t sure what to call himself. But he was definitely her predator, “bad things out here.”

“Just like your mother.”......“For now,”
She leaned her head to the side. What about her mother? And why would he think that she would just over night about face her feelings about him, well, what the hell feelings did she have? She didnt like him, but she was definitly drawn to him somehow. She walked around, a little bit, so she would not fall over at any moment. She would let go of the 'just like your mother' comment, seeing as he started to speak again.
“What are you doing out here all by yourself?”....“You shouldn’t be out here alone. Theres…” ....“bad things out here.”
She chuckled darkly.
"Don't I know it," she said under her breath looking away as she did it. She looked back right away.
"I like to climb, and I know whats out there," mostly she said to herself.
She walked over to a tree with a low hanging limb. She walked right past Edward, and climbed clumsily up onto the branch.
"I probably should not be climbing trees with my balance deficiency," she said, sitting down on the low branch and smiled at him.

Keira didn’t seem to take Edward’s threat very seriously. After laughing to herself she said, "Don't I know it.” She said it under her breath, like it wasn’t meant for Edward to hear. And with her blocked mind he had know idea what this meant. He was instantly annoyed. Was she referring to the pack? Or did she know what he was? "I like to climb, and I know what’s out there," she clarified. Edward’s eyebrows pulled together as he thought about that, and then it cleared instantly. So she might have seen a bear or a mountain lion. That was the least of his worries. But he let it go. No reason to frighten her.
She walked around Edward to a tree behind him. He watched her lack of coordination and smiled widely. He knew then that he would love her. He knew that the first time he saw her, but at that moment he finally gave in to it.
She climbed clumsily up onto a low hanging branch, and he followed her swiftly, standing under her so he could catch her. Just in case. The branch was pretty low, and her head was just inches above him standing on the ground. He laughed at her lack of height, “Yes, I see what you mean, you can probably see everything from there,” He commented, sarcasm coating his voice, he grinned up at her, showing that he was only kidding.
"I probably should not be climbing trees with my balance deficiency," she mentioned, sitting down on the low branch and smiled at him.
Her smile made his heart hurt. He frowned and said so low he doubted she could hear her, “Why do you have to do that to me.” He backed up a few feet, trying to stay away from her beautiful scent. He knew his eyes would be all but jet black. He was so thirsty, and she smelled so good.
Once he was a safe distance away, and under control he acted like nothing happened, though he's mood turned much darker, and said, “Yes, you don’t seem to be the most coordinated, maybe you should get down?” he stated like a question. He really didn’t want her to get hurt, and he didn’t think he could stand close enough to catch her.

“Yes, I see what you mean, you can probably see everything from there,” He smiled at her, letting her know he was only joking. She frowned slightly, fighting a small smile. she didnt like the teasing so much, but she knew that he would be doing alot of it.
He was under the tree, braced as if she were about to fall. she giggled slightly. Why was this boy so protective of her? She shook her head.
He stopped his smiling, and stepped back, mumbling something.
"Hmm?" She said as he stepped back further. His eyes were the blackest black she had ever seen. She was about to jump down when he made a comment, his mood as black as his eyes.
“Yes, you don’t seem to be the most coordinated, maybe you should get down?”
She felt her face set in the stubborn look that she got that made her parents laugh because they said it looked like her mother at her age.
"You sound just like Bella," She said, getting up, and climbing to a higher branch. She hated being bossed around. Especially by someone she had just met, even though she felt some connection to this boy. Her balance faltered, slightly, but she regained it. She let out a breath of relief, and whispered;
"stupid Cullen, try to control me,"

Edwards request seemed to have the opposite effect on Keira. Instead of getting down like a good little girl, her face set into a stubborn scowl that could be compared with no one but Bella Marie Swan.
"You sound just like Bella," Keira told him.
Edward just rolled his eyes after the pain subsided. Just the sound of her name gave him physical pain. “It’s called maturity. You should try it sometime.” He wasn’t sure why he was being so rude. He really didn’t want to upset her. He was just upset with himself. How did he get himself into this situation? He wanted nothing more than Keira’s blood, warm in his mouth. But that wasn’t all he wanted. He wanted to tell her he loved her, already. Why was he so screwed up?
Again her stubbornness shown through when the young Black climbed up to a higher branch. Edward frowned annoyed. She still wasn’t that high, but being the fragile human she was, Edward was fairly sure she would hurt herself pretty good if she fell. Being related to Bella meant it was only a matter of time before she fell.
"Stupid Cullen, try to control me," She told him. Edward rolled his eyes again. He seemed to do that a lot these days. He went back to the tree, so he would be able to catch her. He would just have to deal with the smell, for her safety.
After pinching the bridge of his nose, trying to control his temper, Edward looked up at the girl. Giving her a burning look he said, “Will you please come down?” Then he added, “Or are you going to make me come up there and get you?”

Jamie pushed his way through the trees, not really caring where he ended up. His mom was at work and he had just wanted to get out of the house. As he made his way through the bushes he saw Edward Cullen standing looking up into a tree, in the tree he saw Keira. "Hey Keira," He said looking up at his friend in the tree. He glanced at Edward out of the corner of his eye but otherwise didn't acknowledge the other boy. He had a bad feeling about the entire Cullen family, especially Edward Cullen. He didn't know why but something about him made him nervous.
Maybe it was the way he always looked so intense, or maybe it was just the way he looked at Keira. Jamie knew that in any sense he shouldn't be jealous, Keira was his friend and nothing else, but he had a feeling that if she got involved with Cullen she would end up getting hurt. "Exactly why are you in that tree?" He asked.

Keira chuckled. the tree branch groaned under her weight. She was seriously considering getting down, she never liked the trees in this psart of the forest, the ones around her meadow were much, much better.
She started to get down, as he said,
“Will you please come down?” Then he added, “Or are you going to make me come up there and get you?”
"Mr.Cullen, I would laugh if I saw you up in a tree," She said lightly, spinning on one foot. She almost fell, and let out a small short laugh.
"Exactly why are you in that tree?"
Her head snapped around at the familiar sound of her bests friends voice.
"Jamie!" She said, jumping down, more like stumbling. "You came out, I thought you hated when i climbed trees," She laughed while she hugged him, then stepped back.
"Oh, uuum, this is Edward Cullen," She said, motioning tword Edward with her left hand.

Jamie gave Keira a quick hug back and smiled, "Yeah I hate it because you usually fall and I'm the one who has to explain to your father why I keep bringing you home with a bloody forehead." He joked remembering the look on her father's face last time she had fallen out of a tree, it was a look that had said, 'If you ever let her climb another tree I will kill you.'
"Yeah I've seen him around school," Jamie said quietly, not looking at Edward when Keira motioned to him. He looked down at his feet and casually put his hands in his pockets, looking back up he said, "So what were you doing in that tree? Are you trying to shoot for an all time record of stitches? Because if you are you're father will kill me."

"Mr. Cullen, I would laugh if I saw you up in a tree," Keira said lightly, trying to spin on one foot, nearly falling. Edward braced himself for her fall, but she caught herself. That time.
“Well I assure you Miss. Black, I would do it with a little more grace than you.” He said jokingly, grinning. Then he heard something. His head snapped to the sound. He could smell that it was only human, so he relaxed slightly. Nothing he couldn’t handle. A familiar scent too. One held by Jamie Weber. The best friend of Keira Black. Edward had had to get to know the kid a little more than he would have liked to, just for the mere fact of Keira. Since he couldn’t read Keira’s mind, he was forced to read the minds of those around her. And Jamie seemed to be around her quite often. He loved her. Edward knew that. But Edward didn’t really seem him as a threat. Edward couldn’t be sure about how she felt about him, considering he couldn’t read her mind, which was another strange matter in itself. But he has had quite a few years to observe the human girl, and he was fairly sure she didn’t have any feelings for him, other than friendship. But, girls were known to be unpredictable.
Then why did Edward dislike Jamie so much? Edward didn’t know how he felt about Keira. But he knew one thing. He SHOULDN’T feel anything for her. He’d already been wounded so badly by a human girl, her mother. Could he really do that to himself again?
By the time the young Weber broke through the trees, Edward thoroughly confused. But he still felt a certain reluctance to see him. Edward wasn’t really sure what to do. The boy did not acknowledge him, though Edward knew that Jamie was aware of his presence. He could hear the boy’s thoughts. Edward smirked as he heard how uncomfortable he made Jamie.
"Exactly why are you in that tree?" He called up to Keira, causing her to almost fall out of the tree again. Edward rolled his eye.
“Jamie!" She called, with a little more excitement than Edward liked. She climbled, well more like stumbled out of the tree. Edward half caught her as her feet touched the ground. He didn’t want her to get hurt. But the same strange cold sensation happened as soon as he touched her, and he pulled away quickly.
"You came out, I thought you hated when I climbed trees," She said, laughing happily. Edward stayed silent during there little reunion. She gave him a quick hug and Edward felt something burn slightly inside him. He looked away. He was insane. He barely knew her. It was crazy for him to feel this way. He couldn’t.
"Yeah I hate it because you usually fall and I'm the one who has to explain to your father why I keep bringing you home with a bloody forehead." Jamie joked with her. Edward cringed at the idea of her precious blood spilled. She smelled too wonderful.
"Oh, uuum, this is Edward Cullen," Keira said, gesturing towards him with her left hand. Edward nodded coolly towards Jamie.
"Yeah I've seen him around school," Jamie said shyly, not looking at Edward. Edward chuckled softly. He was used to that reaction from humans, but he expected a little more gull from Mr. Weber. After a few awkward seconds Jamie looked back up at Keira, "So what were you doing in that tree? Are you trying to shoot for an all time record of stitches? Because if you are you're father will kill me."
Edward knew that if he was going to be able to leave Keira alone, he would have to stay away from her. He did not need a repeat of what happened with Bella. His heart wouldn’t be able to take it. He loved her too much. Edward was already getting too attached to the young Black.
“Well,” Edward said casually, he already felt like he was intruding on something, “I guess I’ll be going, it seems you have someone else here to protect you from the trees,” Edward joked, winking at Keira, with one of his perfect crooked smiles.
