Why was he there? He knew the pain it would cause him. He knew it would feel like daggers to the heart that hadn’t beat in more than 80 years. Yet, he went. He wasn’t really sure when he decided to come. Consciously it was a split second decision. But everything he had done today had brought him there. The desire to hunt in the range, even though he wasn’t nearly as hungry as he usually let himself get. Then as he slowly worked closer to the dreadful spot, it hit him that this was where he was headed.
Edward stood in the middle of the meadow, letting the pain and memories wash over him, embracing him. He hadn’t felt this much pain for Bella in a couple of years. He knew that coming back to Forks would do this to him. And he obviously was trying to make it worse. Yes, Edward had known about the meadow before that one blissful afternoon that he had brought Bella Swan, but before that day, it had not held the same meaning. That day, Bella learned the full extent of Edward’s difference from her, and she had not fled. That day, Edward knew he would never find another girl he wanted more. Could that ever change?
Sighing, Edward turned to leave; he couldn’t stand the memories any longer. But then he heard a sound, someone was approaching the meadow. Edward turned to see who it was. Not very many people knew were this meadow was, and he was fairly sure it wouldn’t be a human. Most humans didn’t wander out this far.

She had fought with her mother. Something about being safe, and as usual, Vivian tried to assure her that she could take care of herself. Well this led to that, and Vivian ran off. It wasn't abnormal for the young werewolf to run away. She always came back, and if it wasn't willingly, the pack would come find her and drag her back, that or her father would.
She didn't feel like transforming just yet, she wasn't that mad. So, she just walked. One day, while she was running around, she found a meadow. The air surrounding it was peaceful. She ended up coming back, but she never told anyone else of her discovery. If she told Will, he'd tell the pack. And they'd turn this place into a party spot. If she told Keira, she'd tell their mom and dad, and Vivian wouldn't be able to come back. So, she kept it her secret.
She wasn't paying attention much to her surroundings, but cringed when she heard a branch snap under her bare feet. She heard someone, then let herself smell the air.
Vampire. She thought.
She raised her gaze to the boy ahead of her. She turned her body into a fighting stance. She knew about the rivalry between vampires and werewolves.
And she was a werewolf.
"Who are you!?..... What are you doing here?!" She yelled out to him.

As Edward turned to see his approaching companion he smelled it. The smell disgusted him to a level only one thing could. Werewolf. He hadn’t experienced that reek for quite a few years now. Jacob Black popped into his mind automatically, and his heart lashed violently. The werewolf that stole his Bella. Ok, he didn’t really steal her, Bella went pretty willingly, and Bella was no longer Edward’s in the first place, but still Edward couldn’t help putting it together that way.
"Who are you!?..... What are you doing here?!" the horribly smelling dog yelled at him. Edward crinkled his nose against the smell. If she wasn’t going to be polite, he saw no reason to not show her his repulsion.
Edward closed his eyes and thought of Carlisle for a split second, trying to hold on to his composure, just as Carlisle would. It would not help anything for the Cullens to start off on a bad foot with the Quileute Pack, which Edward had no doubt this girl belonged too.
Snapping his eyes open Edward said soothingly, “Don’t be alarmed, I mean you no harm,” He rose his hands, palm side out, to show that he was in no way planning to attack her, though she sat in a fighting stance. He looked her over cautiously. She was still a good distance away from him, but with his sharp eyes, he could still make out her features well. He all but fell over at the sight of her. It was Bella. It had to be Bella. If he was not a vampire, with no beating heart, he was fairly sure it would have given out on him in that moment. She had the same color brown hair, and matching dark eyes that Edward could never forget. But there was some differences too. It wasn’t Bella, Edward knew that, but it was pretty close.
Her daughter.
There was no other explanation. Edward knew Bella had married Jacob. He knew she had children, three to be exact, but seeing the girl… he could hardly stand it. Edward had planned a whole spiel about how the Cullens were vegetarian vampires and would keep the treaty and everything, but he lost it. That’s not easily done when your speaking about a vampire. “You…” Edward all but sputtered, “Your Bella’s daughter.” It was not a question. It wasn’t an accusation. It was simply stating the fact that was now clear as day on her beautiful Bella-like face.

Vivian straightened when he began speaking. She took a few cautious steps toward him. Then she stopped.
"How do you know my mother?" She asked, accusingly. Just like his tone had been with her. She took a few more steps, and looked him over. She saw his eyes.
"What are you?" She could smell he was a vampire, and she knew he smelt she was a werewolf. But she didn't understand about his eyes. Growing up, she was told that you cold tell a vampire by, unhuman beauty, pale white skin, and red eyes. This vampire had golden eyes. She cocked her head to the side, and stared at him.
"Look, we've lived in peace with humans for about 30 years. We don't want any trouble. " She took a few steps back, and her eyes scanned the area where she would be able to run off and go back home. But if her father's stories were correct, not even in wolf form, could you outrun a vampire. She looked back at him, fear rising in her.

“How do you know my mother?” The Bella look-alike asked an accusing edge to her voice.
“Well, we have some… history,” Edward said slowly, trying to pick the correct words to describe what would have been. What Edward so badly would have wanted.
The small werewolf girl tilted her head to the side as she said, “What are you?” She looked confused. She had to have known he was a vampire. Could she not smell him? Could she not feel the natural tension between them? But Edward wasn’t like other vampires, and this perceptive werewolf had caught on fairly quickly.
“I think that’s obvious enough,” Edward said in his rich, formal voice, “I’m a vampire.” He said the word as if it had no real meaning behind it. Just a minor detail, instead of a large problem. He could see the threat she felt in her now panicking eyes.
"Look, we've lived in peace with humans for about 30 years. We don't want any trouble. " She said, backtracking. Edward was slightly confused. It wasn’t like a werewolf to back down, they usually were always looking for a fight. Not that Edward had any intentions of fighting the girl. He wasn’t sure that he could hurt her if it came down to that, she was too much like Bella.
Werewolves were supposed to protect the humans. So of course they lived in peace. “Relax,” Edward commanded gently,, still standing in a comforting stance. He could hear her mind racing with what she knew about vampires. She was thinking of running, and for some reason, that upset Edward. He didn’t want her to leave, and he wasn’t really sure why, besides her obvious similarities to his old love. “I’m not like other vampires. I won’t hurt you, or any humans here.” Edward said this with confidence because he knew it was true. He hadn’t had a taste of human blood since that faithful day he cleared Bella of James’s venom, saving her from a life as a vampire. And before that, many years. “My family and I feed only on animals and we shall keep the treaty.” Edward wasn’t sure if this young werewolf would know of the treaty, but he said it reassuringly anyway.

Vivian finally straightened, and moved closer to him.
"So, I don't have to report this sighting to my father? I mean there's no point, if you're going to keep to the treaty..." She didn't know why she was talking like she did, if this were a time that she had to protect her family, she would've changed and attacked already. But since this vampire claimed to be nice, Vivian guessed that she should probably be nice as well.
"I'm Vivian." She said. She remembered a story of her mother's. Her mother had different views on vampires then her father did. But she heard her father's stories more often.
Her mother told them that there were a couple of vampires that were good. She didn't name them, but she said that their eyes were topaz colored, and they were trying to be as human as possible. They had a house, and they kept peace with the werewolves. They weren't named, but Vivian wondered if this vampire was like that vampires in her mother's stories.
She glanced at him, he did say that he and her mother had a history. And Vivian was determined to know what that history was.

"So, I don't have to report this sighting to my father? I mean there's no point, if you're going to keep to the treaty..." the young werewolf mused.
“Well, either way.” Edward said indifferently. The Pack would know the Cullens were back sooner or later. Edward wondered what Jacob would do, if he would try to keep the vampire away from Bella. Would he still feel a threat from Edward?
"I'm Vivian." The girl introduced herself. Edward usually didn’t care much about what the Werewolves preferred to go by, but he didn’t want this girl to dislike him, so he would call her Vivian instead of the more appropriate dog.
“Hello Vivian” He tried to word out in his velvet voice, “My name is Edward Cullen.” He listened carefully as Vivian thought about her mother’s stories. Edward had known it was right to assume this was Bella’s daughter, and it throbbed numbly remembering her in Vivian’s recollections. So Bella had told her children about the Cullens. For some reason this made Edward happy. She hadn’t completely forgotten him. “Yes, we’re exactly like them,” Edward told her, answering her unspoken question.
Now it was Edward’s turn to ask his questions, “Why are you all the way out here?” He asked her. If she was a wolf, he would understand. The Pack had always felt the need to ‘patrol’ the area, but she was in her human form. Why would she wander this far out as a human?

Hearing him answer her thoughts, made her a bit alert. Then he asked why she was out this far. She figured she could trust him somehow.
"Got into a fight with my mother. Something about being safe, and so this led to that, and so I ran off." She said.
She mused over his name, and she briefly recalled it being yelled during her mother and father's fights. They fought quite a bit for about 20 years apparently. [/b] Once she was woken up by her parents screaming and fighting. She had heard her father yell about someone named Cullen. And her mother had replied with ' Edward. His name was Edward.' Could they be one and the same? The boy from her parent's past, and the boy standing in front of her?[/center]

Edward expected some kind of reaction to him answering her thought. It usually scared people the first time he did it. Sure he saw her eyes snap to an even higher level of alertness, but that was all. She went on as if she had expected his answer. But he was soon distracted for she was answering his question. "Got into a fight with my mother. Something about being safe, and so this led to that, and so I ran off." She told him casually, as if this happened all the time. Edwards face tightened slightly at the mention of her mother. Bella. She was worried? She had always been the one telling Edward not to worry. But motherhood changed people; maybe she grew protective of her beautiful children.
Vivian thought about his name. Edward stiffened as she remembered her parents fighting. They were fighting about Edward. She still thought of him occasionally. Edward tried to ignore the happiness that filled him. It wasn’t healthy. Just because she hadn’t forgotten him entirely. He knew this was wrong, because the whole reason for his leaving was so that she could move on. He had wanted her to forget him, but yet deep down, he never did.
“Safety is important.” Edward said, “Just look what you ran into.” He said with a smirk, gesturing at himself. He said it jokingly, but he meant it seriously. He was a monster. She was too. But he was worse, far worse.

Vivian laughed.
"You're not that bad." She glanced around remembering her sister.
"If anyone should be careful, it should be my sister Keira." She didn't know why she was telling him all this, but she felt she could trust him.
"So, if you're like those vampires from my mother's stories, do you have a family? Or Coven... I don't know what to call them." Again, she didn't know why she kept talking, but he seemed to know her mother, and almost anyone who knew her mother, was a good person.

She laughed. Edward almost cringed at the sound. It was the same rich tone as Bella’s. It made his heart ache. He wanted to reach out to her. But he wouldn’t, he was too afraid he’d scare her off. He liked having her here. He didn’t want her to leave. Ever. "You're not that bad." She told him, and Edward laughed darkly. She was just like Bella. She was a werewolf though; couldn’t she sense the danger that presented itself when Edward was there?
"If anyone should be careful, it should be my sister Keira." She told him. Keira, so that was another one of Bella’s beautiful children.
“And why is that?” Edward asked her, trying to keep her talking. He liked the sound of her voice. It wasn’t really like Bella’s nervous tone, but it still had a certain appeal to it.
"So, if you're like those vampires from my mother's stories, do you have a family? Or Coven... I don't know what to call them." She asked. He heard her bantering to herself. She felt like she could trust Edward, and he shook his head at the idea. He was a vampire. If there was one thing her mother should have taught her it would have been to never trust a vampire.
“Yes, I have a family.” Edward told her, “We live not far from here. I’m sure you will be seeing us pretty soon, we’ll be going to school at Forks.” Well not everyone. Carlisle would be going back to the hospital, and Esme would be keeping up her role as the ‘mother’ of the family.

Vivian laughed again. "For some reason, my sister is human. Of course that leads my brother to tease her that something's wrong with her brain. Of course no one else knows that." She probably shouldn't have said that, but oh well. What's done is done.
When he mentioned his family, she smiled. "Are they good vampires?" Though she didn't voice it, she was dying to meet them. If they were as interesting as Edward, she could see them becoming friends. Her legs began getting tired, so she sat down, still looking at him. "Tell me about your family?" She asked, she was curious about his way of life.

"For some reason, my sister is human. Of course that leads my brother to tease her that something is wrong with her brain. Of course no one else knows that." Vivian explained. Edward just stared at her. This is what Edward wanted for Bella, for her to be able to have human children. Then why did it hurt so badly to hear?
Vivian seemed genuinely interested in Edward's family, "Are they good vampires?" She asked him. He heard her curiosity in her head, running wild. She wanted to meet them? Vivian Black had to be the most abnormal werewolf Edward had ever meet. When Edward decided this, it had an uncomfortable edge to it. It reminded him of how Bella Swan had seemed like the most abnormal human Edward had ever meet.
As if to prove his point, Vivian sat down. She just decided she didn't want to stand anymore, and plopped into the grass. Edward was baffled. How could she be so comfortable, so close to a vampire? "Tell me about your family?" She demanded, but worded it like a question.
It took Edward a few seconds to grasp on to what was going on, then it took him a few more seconds to decide to stay. He walked over to her gracefully, and sat down next to her and began talking, "Well, there's seven of us. Carlisle is like the leader," Edward started to explain, trying to word everything so that she would understand, "He 'made' me, and is the father-like figure in our very strange family. He also helps uphold the ruse by claiming us as his adoptive children."
Why Edward was telling his possible enemy all this? He wasn't really sure. But she seemed so comfortable with him, it was hard not to feel comfortable with her. He looked over at her, wondering if he should continue. Wondering if this all would freak her out.

She sighed and listened to him. His family sounded nice. She sighed as he paused. She wanted to know more, and she noticed that he seemed to think that her behaviour was strange. "My parents have conflicting feelings about Vampires. My father says that they're all cold and heartless. They feel nothing, and only want to kill humans.
"However, my mother says that that's not true. They can love someone, and they can love each other. They can live in harmony with humans, and feed on animals. " She stopped, realizing she was rambling. She quickly remembered that later on in the night, there was going to be a party on First Beach. "Hey, there's a party on First Beach. You wanna come? See how everything looks?" She asked.
